Letters of Hope - Board Director

Are you a visionary leader with a passion about mental health and driving organisational growth? Letters of Hope, a not-for-profit social enterprise with charitable status founded in 2018, are currently recruiting for Board Directors. Having grown from 6 to 600 volunteers over the past year, we are at a critical juncture in our journey and are seeking individuals with diverse skills, including a focus on fundraising, strategic vision, and commercial knowledge to support the expansion of our corporate partnerships and workplace service offerings.

About Letters of Hope:
Letters of Hope is dedicated to breaking the mental health stigma, one letter at a time. Through the impactful gesture of sending handwritten letters, we aim to spread kindness, raise awareness, and provide support to those facing mental health challenges.  We firmly believe in the power of social connection, kindness, and compassion as protective factors.

The Role: Board Director (3 Positions Open)
As a Board Director, you will be instrumental in working closely with the CEO, Founder & Chair in shaping the strategic direction of Letters of Hope and supporting us in successfully and sustainably scaling our operations. We are specifically seeking individuals with a commercial focus and background to help us expand our corporate partnerships and offerings, in addition to fundraising expertise. 

Responsibilities:

  • Fundraising Leadership: Support the development and vision of our existing and future initiatives to diversify and enhance our funding sources, ensuring the sustainability and growth of Letters of Hope.

  • Corporate Partnerships: Leverage your commercial background to support us to identify, develop, and nurture strategic corporate partnerships, expanding our reach and impact.

  • Strategic Vision: Collaborate with fellow board members to shape Letters of Hope's strategic plan, ensuring alignment with our mission and values.

  • Advocacy and Networking: Represent Letters of Hope in relevant forums, building partnerships and advocating for mental health awareness and destigmatisation.

  • Governance: Provide oversight and guidance on organisational policies, ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards.


Qualifications and Experience:

  • Passion for mental health advocacy and a commitment to breaking the stigma surrounding mental health.

  • Experience in fundraising and funding generation, particularly in the not for profit and/or social enterprise sector.

  • Commercial focus and background with a proven track record of developing and managing corporate relationships.

  • Strategic thinking and the ability to contribute to organisational growth.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively in a team.

  • ICDA Membership

  • Director Identification Number (DIN)
